The temporary exhibition, which commemorates the history of Civil Air Patrol Coastal Patrol 3- Puddle Jumpers of Lantana. This fascinating little known story is one whose impact is still felt and remembered in this community. An anticipated 4,000 additional people are expected to visit the Museum during the period of the temporary exhibition and be touched by this group of dedicated individuals. Functioning as the newly created Civil Air Patrol (CAP), the group worked to fill the void by providing small civilian airplanes for anti-submarine patrols along the coast until the military could take over the mission. Accompanying the exhibition will be a teacher’s guide and lesson plan specially formulated to better understand and utilize the Civil Air Patrol Coastal Patrol 3 – Puddle Jumpers of Lantana exhibition and contain background for student and teachers to prepare them for the Museum Experience. Exhibit Highlights: Original cartoons and an authentic CAP uniform from Robert Mosley. Following the exhibition, the Historical Society will lend the materials to other institutions.
Sponsors of the exhibit are the Marshall E. Rinker, Sr. Foundation, Inc. and Florida Airmotive.
