Children Can Learn Stress Reduction Too!
West Palm Beach – Learn how to help your children calm anxiety and stress at the Mental Health Association’s Lunch and Learn workshop Wednesday, May 9th from 12 p.m. -1:30 p.m.

May is Mental Health month and what better way to address mental health and wellness than to teach parents, mentors, and others who work with children new strategies they can use to help children lower anxiety and reduce stress, which can be harmful to their health and reduce their productivity in school. During this event you will learn:
· How stress affects children physically.
· How to use imagery exercises to help children move away from negative compulsive thinking.
· How to use mindful movement and breathing techniques to reduce stress and improve performance.
· The Rainbow Weather Massage.
· Many more strategies to improve the mental wellness of children (and adults!)

About the speakers
Sari Sack Terrusa, MS, LMHC, Psychotherapist, Founding Co-Director of Transformational Studies InstituteRecognized as a leading counselor and educator in the South Florida area, Sari began her work in 1981 as a therapist and advocate for handicapped children and their families. Her work at the Kempe National Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse won her national grant awards. Sari has taught and disseminated this project nationally and internationally. Sari works with women’s groups, individuals, couples, children and families. She also teaches and speaks in the community highlighting her innovative, intuitive psycho-spiritual approach.
Janet A. Courtney, Ph.D., LCSW, RPT-S is Director of Developmental Play & Attachment Therapies of Palm Beach Gardens, a center established to offer services for parents, children, and mental health practitioners in order to support and promote more conscious and connected relationships between parents, care-givers and children. Dr. Courtney also provides a variety of training opportunities in Play Therapy including a Certification in CARE Developmental Play Therapy (CDPT).
Yoga Gangsters is a Miami-based non-profit organization that empowers youth who are at-risk or in-crisis through the science and practice of yoga by addressing the symptoms of trauma and poverty such as limited education, addiction, violence, incarceration, teen pregnancy, HIV and more. Yoga Gangsters also assists youth with career training and job placement by providing selected applicants with full scholarships to the Urban Guru Program, a 200-hour yoga teacher certification, so they may return to their communities as strong, inspirational leaders.
