Throughout Palm Beach County, hurricane season is always "just around the corner."  If you have your plan of action together and all of your supplies prepared, now it's time to be a hero and help out others who aren't as fortunate.  Because after all, a hurricane here affects all of us.

The Palm Beach County Department of Community Services and the Palm Beach County Health Department establishes a Special Needs shelter during times of evacuation.  This shelter is specifically for residents of Palm Beach County living with Alzheimer's disease and dementia disorders.  It's a safe haven for patients and their caregivers, one that is staffed by experts who know how to help in these cases.

If you are ready to be a hero, are over 18 years of age and live in Palm Beach County, please contact the volunteer department at Alzheimer's Community Care to set up your Florida-state approved dementia-specific training.  This training is necessary in order to help at this shelter during relief efforts.  Call (561) 683-2700 for more details.
